Studio Backs developed the comprehensive product architecture and brand identity for ParkPod, a minimalist EV charging system tailored for US and European markets. Driven by an "iconic yet simple" design philosophy, the scalable system features single and dual configurations for both wall-mounted and freestanding units, optimized for straightforward manufacturing and effortless customization. Usability is seamlessly integrated into the hardware; an innovative coiled-spring cable solution prevents ground contact and naturally guides users through the charging process, complemented by intuitive indicator lights, RFID access, and rugged protection against vandalism.

Custom Branding & Flexibility

Designed as a flexible platform, the Level 2 charger accommodates seamless co-branding and customization for major retail chains. The system allows commercial partners to easily adapt the hardware to their visual identity, offering free charging as an integrated, premium touchpoint in the customer journey.

User-Centered Design & Durability

Our design process balanced intuitive ergonomics with rugged durability. We optimized cable length, retention, and management for effortless docking, while designing robust protective shrouds to withstand weather extremes and vandalism. To ensure global scalability, the hardware architecture was tailored to accommodate the distinct requirements of both the US and European markets.
