The Design Challenge -
Team sports athletes training in extreme heat face severe thermal strain, often over-drinking in a misdirected attempt to cool down. This over-hydration causes bloating and sluggish performance without lowering core body temperature, creating a clear design challenge: how to deliver rapid physiological cooling and hydration within a single, intuitive product.
The Design Solution -
The CamelBak Reign solves this with a multi-mode cap system that separates hydration from thermal management. Designed with a tri-function valve, the bottle transitions seamlessly between a high-flow drinking stream, a wide shower-mist spray for rapid evaporative cooling across the face and neck, and a leak-proof lockout mode. This targeted surface cooling lowers thermal stress on demand without forcing athletes to over-drink.
Available in both insulated and non-insulated models to maintain liquid temperature, the system also includes a dedicated 8-bottle carrier. The carrier features central cap storage, drainage holes for upside-down drying, and a fold-away handle designed to minimize shipping volume.
