The Design Challenge -

Berkeley-based green company Puretergent needed to challenge traditional laundry detergent packaging by moving beyond standard rigid bottles. The objective was to create a youthful, modern, and playful brand identity centered around a flexible, eco-friendly pouch system for both liquid and dry detergent products.

The Design Solution -

To reflect the brand's core ethos—"lighten up" and "think outside the bottle"—we created a comprehensive branding, messaging, and packaging system emphasizing pure convenience, pure formulas, and a minimal environmental footprint. The design features 1L and 2L hanging pouches equipped with an integral handle for wall-hook storage, a clear viewing window, and a precision dosing cap with a unique clear nozzle. By utilizing a flexible pouch format that uses 8x less plastic than a rigid bottle, the solution drastically reduces emissions while delivering professional-grade, skin-gentle formulas alongside custom dielines for bleach and detergent tablets.
