An industry first, Owlcam is an LTE-connected dash camera delivering real-time vehicle security. Its dual-facing cameras capture both interior and exterior activity, automatically uploading incident footage directly to the cloud. Paired with an intuitive app and an effortless setup, Owlcam provides users with instant video evidence for everything from break-ins and crashes to mystery parking lot dings.

The Design Challenge -

The primary design challenge behind the Owl Car Cam was to create an adaptable, integrated solution that delivers an elevated security experience within any vehicle interior while providing continuous 24/7 visual protection. Designing for the modern car interior required overcoming ergonomic and spatial hurdles—specifically creating a compact silhouette that adapts to varying dashboard depths and heights without obstructing the driver’s line of sight. From a holistic branding and user-centric perspective, the vision demanded a system that could eliminate messy, visible wires across the console while simultaneously serving as an instant visual deterrent to potential car thieves.

The Design Solution -

The Owl Cam features a distinct, compact form factor shaped to follow a common 30-degree windshield angle, minimizing visual obstruction while establishing a sleek iconic silhouette. Its sleek housing features a signature pulsating beacon light, creating an iconic aesthetic that blends smart security with proactive theft deterrence.

Central to this seamless integration is the innovative beam and suction system, which connects to the camera via a magnetic ball joint. Complete with a hidden lever and three exchangeable beam tails tailored to match varying dashboard depths and heights, the beam effortlessly extends the camera into any cabin for a custom-fit finish. Custom molded channels route the power cable along the beam, while a specialized tuck tool and magnetic OBD power connector keep wiring completely hidden within the windshield gap for effortless ease of installation.

Every touchpoint is considered to deliver an elevated out-of-box experience. From intuitive graphics and step-by-step guides to organized component packaging, setting up the Owl Cam feels premium and user-friendly from the moment the box is opened.
